From my previous article, you can tell that sport is an interest to me. Golf is one of the games I love to be engaged in. Another Golf Club that I love to be in is the Pine Valley Golf Club. The Club is situated in Pine Valley, Camden Country, in the south part of New Jersey. You may ask if it is a private club. Yes! How Did The Club Come Into Existence?
The Club was founded by a group of upcoming golf players in 1913. They purchased 184 acres of land. George Arthur Crump structured the course.
George Crump was engrossed and committed to the course. His dedication to the design of the course made the course to be called ‘Crump’s Folly’ by few.
The course was not created by him alone; he had the assistance of Hugh Wilson, Walter Travis, A.W. Tillinghast, H.S. Colt, and George C. Thomas Jr.
Crump was a man of great virtue and integrity. He observed that using the Club from the bag was necessary to play on the golf course.
In 1914, the Club unofficially opened eleven holes. Crump passed on in 1918 without money (allegedly). The unfinished four holes 12, 13, 14 & 15 were completed in 1922.
Subsequently, Pine Valley expanded to 623 acres, and 416 acres are untouched. Changes have been made to the course by other golf course designers.
