The Oakmont Country Club is a privately owned club that grants admittance by invitation.
The Club is a recommendable place for golf lovers. Golf game is an ancient and lucrative game. We work hard (9 to 4/5 daily) and need a break from work to have fun and relax. Oakmont Country Club Membership Cost
Golf membership gives full access to all amenities at the Club, golf course, fitness, social events, aquatics, and Clubhouse facilities. The Club privileges are extended to spouses and children under 23 years of age.
Membership at the Oakmont country club is not cheap, however, with the initiation fee alone costing $70,000 for homeowners. In addition to the high initiation fee, the annual dues are also quite high, at $12,000 per year. Despite the high cost, the Oakmont country club continues to be one of the most popular and exclusive clubs in the country.

History Of Oakmont Country Club
The Oakmont Country Club is situated in Oakmont, outskirts of Pittsburgh in Western Pennsylvania. In 1900, Henry and his sons were regarded as the best players in Western Pennsylvania. In 1903(119 years ago), the Club was established by Henry Fownes. He and his two sons (William & Charles) desired 18 golf holes in Western Pennsylvania. Henry began the Oakmont Land Company, where investors purchased land for $78,500, approximately $2.5 million, in 2022.
Henry began designing his golf course in September with a group of 150 men and 24 horses. They first dug 12 holes within six weeks using their hands and completed the last six holes during the spring. The Course was opened on October 1st, 1904, for play, playing at 6406 yards and a par of 80.
The Oakmont Club Course was designed using the Great Britain format. It is regarded as the oldest golf club and championship winner.
The Golf Course and Clubhouse were opened in 1904. The Course was designed by Edward Stotz, a great Pittsburgh architect. An estimation of $25,000 was first budgeted for the Course but was finished at the cost of $38,000.
William (Henry’s son) won numerous Championships and made the Club known Nationally. The Course got national awareness in 1916 when the Club hosted the Intercollegiate National Championship.
After the U.S. Open Championship in 1953, Oakmont went through drastic changes. Oakmont was addressed as an “ugly, old brute of a course” by The New Yorker’s Herbert Warren Wind during the report of the Open. The golf course was beautified with over 5,000 trees, transforming it into a typical parkland course.
It is exciting to state that four U.S. Opens are planned (2025, 2033, 2042, and 2049), and two U.S. Women’s Open (2028 & 2038) will be hosted by Oakmont Club.
The Oakmont Club is regarded as the oldest golf club. It has hosted more United States Golf Association (USGA and Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) than any other course in the U.S.

A renowned American Professional Golfer ‘Lee Trevino’ said, “there is only one course in the country where you could step out right now -right now- and play the U.S. Open, and that is “Oakmont.”

The Oakmont Club 18-hole Championship golf design has a complex layout. The beautifully structured Course provides a tough but equal trial of skill for amateurs and professionals. What Is the Required Dress Code?
Oakmont Club has a decent dress policy. The required dress code is mock turtle necks, collared shirts, and shorts. At all times, all shirts must be tucked in. The shorts must be two inches above the knee.
On the Club Property, denim wear is not allowed. Also, members/guests should remove hats on porches and clubhouse. Shoes such as opened-toes and flip-flops are used only at the pool.
Club Amenities
The Oakmont Club is situated at the base of Verdugo Hills. The building has a blue peaked roof and redwood framed windows and doorways. The spacious 42,000-square-foot clubhouse includes a foyer reception area, complete casual and official dining rooms, a conference room, men’s and women’s locker rooms, a well-equipped gym room, an on-site barbershop, and card rooms. There are social events like; golf tournaments, holiday festivals, themed parties, and fun-filled moments for members, family, and guests.
